Nelspruit
Mbombela Stadium was built specifically for the 2010 World Cup. In time the stadium will be the centrepiece in a future sports precinct including athletics and cricket facilities.
It quickly got the nickname The Giraffe Stadium as the 18 roof supports resemble giraffes. The seats of the staduim are patterned with zebra stripes. The pitch is 'Rye grass pitch grown from seed and reinforced with articifial turf fibres' - so the expectations are obviously quite high. ;-)
